8 Simple Joys Of Motherhood

As many of you know I LOVE being a mom. It has been one of the most amazing experiences in my life and I have enjoyed it thoroughly.  I’ll be honest though… This weekend was a very emotional one for me. For various reasons, but mainly because I’m coming to the realization that my little baby is growing up so fast.  She is becoming more “independent”, active and less reliant on mommy these days. I was not ready for this change and have actually been having a hard time adjusting to this new phase. I found myself crying a few times this weekend when thinking about how my baby is growing up so fast and how I’m really not ready for this!!

With that said, even though Rissy is finding her “independence” there are still days when all she wants is mommy. I LOVE those days and make sure that I completely soak up all those moments when they come. On those days I get tonsssss of snuggles, cuddles and kisses. Did I mention that I LOVE days like these.

I haven’t been a mommy very long, but what I have learned is that motherhood is a mix of overwhelming love and joy, some anxiety, fear and tears, and of course tons of laughs, giggles and tickles for days.

Some of my fave things about being a mommy are the simple things that I get to enjoy every day with my Rissy.

Here are 8 simple joys of motherhood that I’ve been blessed to be able to experience.

Snuggles and Cuddles

I am a cuddler… BIG TIME!! I love snuggles, cuddles and hugs. The cuddles and snuggles I get from my Rissy are some of my faves. This morning when she woke up, all she wanted was mommy to hold and cuddle with her. And I happily obliged. I may or may not have gotten to work late because I had to have my snuggles.  I love early morning snuggles with Rissy. They are the PERFECT way start to my day.

Tons of kisses

Yes! I love them! In addition to snuggles and cuddles, I love the kisses that I get daily! They may be wet and slobbery, but they are sooo special. Sometimes she will just randomly kiss me and its so sweet see her being so lovable and affectionate.

Personality Plus

My little Rissy is so much fun! Her little personality is really starting to come out! It’s so fun to see glimpses of myself in her. Personally, I think she’s a lot like me. She is very friendly and social, and is already working on her manners. I say “thank you” a lot and I have noticed that she has started saying it too.   I also see glimpses of her dad in her as well. Sometimes the facial expressions she makes and some of her mannerisms are JUST LIKE HIM. I can’t wait to see her personality come out as she gets older.

Fun Conversations

Rissy is at the point where she is really talking a lot. She is now able to ask tons of questions and engage in conversations. One day I called Henry to touch base with him and she took the phone out of my hand and proceeded to have a three-minute conversation with him. It was so cute! And she was telling daddy what mommy had done with her earlier that day. She was also holding the phone like a grown woman! It was so funny!

Daily Discoveries

Sooooo…. this past weekend I discovered that Rissy is a climber. Yep! She climbed up her changing table all by herself. I was shocked!!!  I am sooo glad that I was there when it happened! She amazes me every day by showing me new things that she’s learned and things she can do. These days she loves pointing to things that are pink. She also loves changing Hello Kitty’s diaper, cleaning the boogies from her doll’s nose and clipping her bear’s fingernails. LOL! She is a blast!

Mommy’s The Word

Another simple joy I love about motherhood is being called mommy. I love it when she calls me… just because. Sometimes when I’m doing something around the house and she doesn’t see me, she will call out “mommy!” just to make sure that I’m nearby. Of course I respond and then she will smile. I love my role as mommy. I have many titles, but “mommy” is my favorite one. 

Silly Laughs And Giggles

Rissy loves being tickled and laughing. Her laugh is contagious! It’s so funny when she asks me to tickle her!! LOL! Sometimes we have funny little “inside jokes” where I’ll say a phrase and she will CRACK up!! It could be something as simple as, “what are you doing?” I love her laugh and find myself cracking up! She def keeps me laughing. It’s like the verse Proverbs 17:22 says: A cheerful heart is good medicine.

 Endless Nursery Rhymes

Rissy’s favorite song is Old MacDonald. She loves it! I’ll be honest some days I have that song on repeat in my head. LOL!! She loves to sing and always says SING MOMMY, SING!! So of course I sing for her! I’m just glad she doesn’t mind my singing voice… I def need some practice!! LOL

Becoming a mommy has brought so much joy into my life. I truly enjoy everything about it. I would be lying if I said every day was perfect and problem free. Some days are harder than others. This “mommy-ing” thing can certainly be draining and tiring at times, but a “simple joy of motherhood” can be found in each day. And for that… I am sooo gr8ful!!!
