Pregnancy can be such an exciting time in a woman’s life, but is also a time where your body is going through so many changes. It helps to have a list of things that can be helpful to have when you are pregnant. Here is a list of my  8 pregnancy must haves. I’ll be sure to have them on deck when we get pregnant with baby #2. An no this is not a pregnancy announcement… yet! I’ll be sure to let you all know when baby #2 is on the way!

Now… let’s get right to it!!

1. Body pillow

Before I got the body pillow, sleeping with a growing belly was a bit difficult. It was hard to get comfortable in any position and after a while my back would start hurting. The body pillow is great because it provides support for your whole body. It’s great because it gives you extra back support that you can’t get with regular lumpy pillows. I loved the body pillow and was able to get some good rest (as good as it can be when you have a baby doing gymnastics in your belly as soon as you go to bed! LOL). I plan to use the body pillow for the rest of my pregnancies. It really is that great!

2. Colace

Yes! This is one thing that I didn’t take as regularly as I should have, but when I had a bathroom adventure that started at 10 p.m. and ended at 6 a.m. the next morning… I NEVER forgot to take it again! Colace is your best friend and is definitely something you need to take regularly. If not, you’ll wish you had!

3. Belly bands

I lost so much weight in the first trimester of my pregnancy… 17 pounds to be exact… that my clothes did not fit me very well. As I began to put on some weight, I didn’t want to buy a lot of maternity clothes (they are soooo EXPENSIVE!!) so I invested in belly bands. I bought one in black, khaki and white. That was one of the best purchases I ever made! I was able to continue to wear my regular pants, throw the belly band on and keep it moving! Those belly bands saved me sooo much money, and I was still able to be cute at the same time! (I didn’t like the way maternity clothes looked on me either!).

4. Cute belts

Using cute belts during my pregnancy really helped me to extend my wardrobe and to stay stylish at the same time. I would wear a larger shirt to cover my belly and just throw a cute belt above my baby bump. I loved how it looked and I loved that I could extend my wardrobe and not have to buy maternity shirts/clothes that didn’t look good on me anyway!

5. Comfortable shoes

This one is important! During my pregnancy, I made sure to wear comfortable shoes. I wore flats for the majority of the pregnancy. If I wanted to be “cute” I would make sure that I wore platforms so that I didn’t have to worry about falling. Comfortable shoes are definitely a must during pregnancy… especially since your feet tend to change and expand, you’ll want to make sure that you are wearing something comfortable.

6. “Honey do” list

As your baby bump grows, there will be less that you can do… well that you should be doing…. So it’s important to have a “honey do” list available so that your spouse can help out whether it’s doing something around the house, getting the grocery shopping done, or even putting the baby’s nursery together. I like to do things my way so one thing that I struggled with was allowing my “honey” to actually “do” the list. But I’m glad I stopped trying to do so much and allowed him to step in and do more. That allowed me to rest up as much as possible before the baby came.

7. Burt’s Bees Mama Bee Nourishing Oil

When I created my baby registry, I happened to add this not really knowing how amazing it would turn out to be! This oil was one of the BEST things I used during my pregnancy! I would put it on my whole body at night after a nice warm shower. I also made sure to rub it all over my belly… and I’m sooo glad I did. This oil helped prevent stretch marks, and kept my skin moisturized and soft. Not only that, but it smells amazing also!

8.  Book: My Pregnancy Week by Week

When we found out we were expecting, I didn’t waste any time finding books that I could reference during my pregnancy. I stumbled across this book and I’m so glad I did. It is written by Dr. Glade B. Curtis, an OBGYN in Salt Lake City. This book is a very easy read, and has very helpful and practical information on how to prepare for baby. He even offers tips for the dad-to-be. He even has more books that address pregnancy after 35 and even one specifically for fathers-to-be. I will definitely be pulling this one out when we find out that baby #2 is on the way!
