With the 18-19 school year underway, I have so many different thoughts and emotions going through my mind.

Why you might ask? Wellll…. Arissa has started “school” this year and I’m still trying to figure out how I feel about it all! I mean, I’m so glad she’s at the age to start (preK-3), but I wasn’t ready for all the jitters and feelings that came with the first day of “school”. Just three years ago we were “oohing” and “awwwing” over our tiny little human and now she’s off to school!! Where did the time go?? I’m not going lie, I’m very excited about all the learning that she will do and how much she will grow over this next year. I’ve seen so much growth already in the few summer months that we’ve spent together.

As a teacher, I know how challenging this job can be. The expectations that teacher are required to meet with not a lot of pay can be quite overwhelming. As a teacher it’s nice to know that you are appreciated and that your hard work is being recognized. So with all of that said, as I’m thinking of ways I can show appreciation to Arissa’s teachers this year, I came up with a list of 8 gifts every teacher would appreciate and approve.

1. Gift cards– need I say more? These are soooo useful! Whether it’s for Starbucks, groceries or just for fun, gift cards are ALWAYS a good idea for teachers.

2. Mini crock-pot– my mom got me one of these and I CAN’T wait to use it!! It’s so cute and portable! It’s great for carrying your lunch. You plug it in and by lunch time your food is warm and ready to go! Another nice thing about this crock-pot is that it will not make your room smell like food while it’s warming it up for you. It’s perfect for those cool fall and cold winter days when you want to bring some nice hearty soup to warm you up! I can’t wait to use mine soon!! You can find the mini crock-pot gift idea here.

3. Awesome planners– teachers are nerds by nature, so you know we LOVE a nice planner!! I’ve had a few here and there over the years, and I can’t imagine not using one. We love to stay organized, and if you find a planner that looks awesome and very helpful, chances are we would really enjoy it too! A couple of nice options can be found here and here. And of course my fave planner can be found here.

4. School supplies– these are always welcome gifts. Many times teachers spend a lot of their own money to buy supplies for their classroom and for their students. We love cool classroom gadgets and supplies. So any creative one as a gift will be a welcomed one.

5. Tea and coffee gift sets– These are very welcome especially in the winter months. I look forward to my coffee (every day) and tea on cold winter mornings. Sometimes getting out of that bed is so hard, especially when it’s still dark outside, but I always look forward to a nice hot cup of tea or coffee on those types of mornings. Not everyone drinks coffee, so it’s nice that there’s a wide range of teas available for those who don’t. A couple of creative tea and coffee gift ideas can be found here and here.

6. Water bottles– these are nice gifts too. Many teachers like to drink water throughout the day to stay hydrated. Having a pretty cool water bottle is nice. It’s also a great gift because it can encourage us who don’t drink enough water to drink more. Yep… that’s something I really need to work on. Some nice options for these can be found here,  here and here.

6. Cute & practical lunch boxes– teachers don’t get a very long lunch break, so we don’t have the luxury to run out and grab lunch all the time. We usually work through our lunches and scarf our food down when we actually get a lunch break. Since we bring our lunches to school, those lunch boxes that come with special compartments and containers are really nice. A couple of cute and practical options can be found herehere and here.

7. Cute bags– every year I find myself buying a new work bag. The bags I have get so much wear and tear with every day use that I end up having to buy a new one pretty much every year. Work bags are always a great gift for teachers. We also like cute make up bags, pencil bags, etc. You can find some cute options here, here and here.

8. Jewelry– there are some really nice teacher themed jewelry gifts out there. By all means, you don’t have to get only teacher themed jewelry, but there are several options. The nice thing is you can get a nice bracelet or necklace without having to break the bank. You can find some nice options herehere, here, and here

Well there you have it! I know its VERY early in the school year, but I thought I would share some great gift ideas for teachers and take out some of the guess work for those of you who might be wondering what kinds of gifts you can get your child’s/children’s teacher this school year. You’re welcome!! 😉
